Chairman of the Board/Commanding Officer

Anthony Rozzano
 

Vietnam Combat Veteran, having been involved with helicopters, Law Enforcement and Fire Rescue for over 25 years. Credited with saving two lives. Started with Air Search Rescue in 1990 as Chief of Flight Operations, responsible for one aircraft and four (4) non-paid members.   In 1994 was appointed Chairman of the Board and Commanding Officer. Expanded the organization to nine divisions with over two hundred volunteer members locally with divisions including helicopters, airplanes, Search Dogs, Water sniffing Dogs, A Nationally Certified Narcotics K-9 Dog, and a certified SCUBA underwater investigation Team.. Served as the Vice President of the Mon -Yough Fire Defense Council with over 3,000 members and was appointed by the Allegheny Valley Fireman's Association as Chief River Official (Allegheny River). Member of Crime Prevention Association of Western Pennsylvania, Springdale Township Volunteer Fire Department Number 1 and maintains participation in various other organizations. Also worked as a federal certified consultant / inspector.

Staff Judge Advocate/Chief Legal Service

Hugh E. Teitelbaum
 

Presently employed as General Counsel and Assistant Vice President for St. Barnabas Health System. He has been an Attorney and administrator for 18 years working in health care, nonprofit organizations, corporate law, military law and private practice. He has a BS Degree in Sociology from Boston University, a MS Degree in Criminology from Northeastern University and a JD from George Mason University where he was Editor of the Law Review. Past employment has included 10 years with the U.S. Department of Justice, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Monsour Medical Center. Teaching experience includes George Washington University and Penn State University. He is currently a Lt. Colonel in the USAFR serving as Staff Judge Advocate for the 911 Air Wing in Pittsburgh. He formerly served as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate and the Commander of a 140 member Security Force Squadron at the 171 Air Refueling Wing (PA Air National Guard) in Pittsburgh. He has completed the Air War College and Desert Warfare Training and served as an on-scene military commander conducting search and recovery at USAir Flight 427 crash site in Hopewell, PA. He currently serves as Legal Counsel for Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum in Pittsburgh.

Director of Communications

Paul Byers
 

Over 20 year's experience in the fields of EMS and Rescue, Certified as an EMT/Paramedic, Orthopedic, Technician and FCC Licensed Radio Operator. Presently AT&T Wireless Service Cellular Systems Technician. Also qualified as a Two-Way Radio Technician, including having attended numerous courses in Electronics. Obtained Technology Degree/BSEET Program and Administration of Criminal Justice.

Canine Division Chief

Joseph A. Pomposelli
 

Over 18 years' experience in the fields of Fire Rescue, EMS and Search and Rescue. Holds Pennsylvania State Certifications as a First Responder, Assistant Rescue Instructor and currently holds the position of Assistant Chief of the Crafton Volunteer Fire Department. Started the Canine Search and Rescue Team approximately seven (7) years ago, training with the County Sheriff of Struthers, Ohio, training his Bloodhound to track humans, such as the event of missing children. Since the inception of the team, he has been pivotal in it's growth to 18 active volunteer members handling and supporting the twelve (12) frontline dogs, six of which are capable of sniffing through water. The Canine Division is proud of it's approximately 80% recovery rate.

SCUBA Division Chief

Keith G. Martin
 

First Certified as a SCUBA Diver in April of 1991. Since that time, has obtained 15 certifications directly related to diving operations, under the direction of two (2) of the most highly recognized respected diving professionals i the United States. He also received ten (10) Certifications correlating the extending and understanding the application of "Safe Diving" principals.

Actively encourages the interest of diving and diving safety in others. Regularly participates in the Certifying of new divers s a "DMT". Performs as a Docent/Diver at the Pittsburgh Zoo and regularly assists the Bulter YMCA in certifying lifeguards by conducting "Hands-On" seminars demonstrating the proper procedure for lifeguards to utilize in rescuing distressed SCUBA divers. Served as Assistant River Official for the Allegheny Valley Fireman's Association.

Jack Pisanko
 

Over eighteen years of security experience. Currently employed by Pinkerton Security as a Road Supervisor plain clothes and surveillance. Twelve years of experience supervising security at Three Rivers Stadium where he was responsible for crowd control and public relations for all concerts, baseball games, football games and special events.

He is presently Vice President of the Board of Commissioners for the Township of Springdale, Vice President of the Springdale Township Volunteer Fire Department, Director of the Allegheny North Council of Government and Board Member of the Allegheny County Western Pennsylvania Association of Township Commissioners.

George Carson Jr.
 

Over 18 years experience in fire rescue and EMS. Holds Pennsylvania State certification in EMS, Rope Rescue, Confined Space, Trench Rescue, Incident Command, Basic and Advanced Pump Operations, Basic River Rescue, Open Water SCUBA Diver, Engine Co. Operations, Residential Fire, EVOC AMB. Fire Apparatus, Large Diameter Hose, Forceble Entry, Legal Aspects, Hazmat/Recognition and Identifying, Hazardous Materials, Flammable Liquids, Propane Gas, Foam Technician.

Career: HAZ-MAT technician for Petro Clean Environmental Services. Life Time member of East Deer TWP VFD and a member of Monroeville #5 VFD. Also a member of Allegheny County HAZ-MAT (Blue Team)

 

Crime Sceen Advisor

James Laird
 

Over twentyfive years of experience in law enforcement and investigations. Jim is currently employed as an agent with the Office of Inspector General. He has twenty years of experince as both a homicide detective and arson investigator with the Allegheny County Police and is a past instructor at the Allegheny County Police Academy. Jim also served as a Petty Chief with the US Coast Guard in charge of Port Security in Pittsburgh.

Training & Development Chief

Mike Nadler
 

Certified in SCUBA Diving in Feb '85, and now having over 5000 Hours logged underwater, Mike has over fifteen years of experience in training & safety with SCUBA Instruction, as well as all phases of the Diving Industry up to managing Dive Stores. Mike has past experience as a supervisor in the Navy, and as a team member with Lifeguard System International. He is a certified SCUBA Instructor Trainer, a Cavern Instructor, Ice Diving Instructor, Nitrox Instructor, and Advanced Diver Rescue Instructor through the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI), A Cavern Instructor through the National Association of Cave Divers (NACD), and a Nitrox Diver under the International Association of Nitrox Divers (IAND). Certified as a Water Safety Instructor (WSI), and as a First Aid and CPR Instructor through ASHI. In November of 1992, Mike was nominated for, and received, a Bronze Wakulla Award for over 100 Hours of Safe Cave Diving through the National Association of Cave Diving (NACD). Mike has worked as an Event and Travel Coordinator for Today's Diver, which aired on ESPN. Mike has also pursued working with two cruise companies (Norwegian and Ocean Quest), as well as in the Florida Keys. He has served as a Lieutenant and training officer for a local VFD. He has volunteered with over ten years involvement with the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium's Shark/Ocean Tanks, including handling the activities as the Diving Safety Coordinator. He currently serves on a technical advisor group for NAUI, and is finishing his certification as a NAUI Instructor Course Director. Mike, along with his wife, Brigette (also a NAUI Instructor), is also the owner of Divehards International, a SCUBA Training Facility based here in Pittsburgh, PA.
